Renault have released an video showing their vision for the future of Formula 1. In the simplest terms, they don’t see an open cockpit series but nor are they seeing much hope for the HALO device either. They fancy a canopy design it seems.
One thing I am intrigued by is the information on the car such as illuminated race positions and more. If the race is a spectacle and most viewers are watching it on TV, then the cars should cater to that visual medium and getting more information across to viewers quickly is a good idea.
“The role of Renault Sport Racing is also to anticipate what will be the future of Formula 1 so that this discipline gathers a maximum of fans in an environment consistent with the objectives of the Renault Group. We are proud to offer to the public, fans and enthusiasts this concept that highlights our ideas and desires. ”
Cyril Abiteboul – Managing Director of Renault Sport Racing
A more efficient single-seater, a more spectacular discipline
With a total power of 1 megawatt for a weight of only 800 kilograms, RS 2027 Vision offers a power-to-weight ratio never seen in the history of Formula 1.
Equipped with four steering wheels , the RS 2027 Vision concept car is more agile and direct on its trajectories. This also facilitates maneuvers in the stands.
Its high energy density batteries are linked to a high-performance energy recovery system, allowing it to be stored for future use. A system similar to that found on an electric model of the Renault range, such as ZOE ZE 40.
With RS 2027 Vision, the human and the show are put back to the fore.
With its transparent cockpit, printed in 3D in a lightweight and durable material, RS 2027 Vision offers the public a complete view of the driver installed on the steering wheel . The pilot’s helmet, also transparent, allows to visualize his face and to observe his reactions.
This futuristic design is also reinforced by strong light elements :
The front C-shaped LEDs and the illuminated diamond placed on the engine hood create an identity link between the car and the current Renault range.
The active LED lighting integrated in the wheels, displays different information such as the position of the driver in the race, the energy situation of the vehicle, etc. Thus facilitating the reading of the race for the public.
